Two Premier League teams, both vying for a top-four finish, will clash at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime, with third-placed Nottingham Forest hosting fourth-placed Manchester City.
The Citizens are aiming to complete a double over Forest for the second consecutive season, having triumphed 3-0 in the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium back in early December.
It’s been a remarkable turnaround for Nottingham Forest. After narrowly escaping relegation last season, few could have predicted that the club would be in the race for a top-four finish this year, as well as being just one step away from a trip to Wembley in the FA Cup. Fewer still would've predicted them to be neck-and-neck with the once dominant City at this point in the season.
Forest have had to rely on penalty shootouts to progress in the FA Cup, edging past both Exeter City and Ipswich Town in the fourth and fifth rounds. Most recently, they defeated Ipswich 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes at the City Ground.
They face a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in the quarter-finals, but their form in the league has taken a downturn since their 7-0 thrashing of the Seagulls on February 1. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has managed only one point from their last three Premier League matches.
Saturday's match presents a tough challenge for Forest, as they are winless in their last nine league encounters with Manchester City. Their last victory over the Citizens came in December 1997.
The game will be broadcast on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate at 12.30pm on Saturday.
