By George! Try this approach to the Clooneys

Natalie Reilly feels sorry for Amal Clooney and she much doesn't like George, especially as he openly admits he's "married up" ("Why you should feel sorry for Amal Clooney", April 15). The Clooneys have always seemed like OK folk to me – and most people I know seem to think so too. Natalie also says she's a little miffed by George's ultra casual clobber, refusing to change even when he's with Amal attending proper dinner parties. I can relate to that. Natalie, maybe next time there's a bit of a do with the Clooneys, just don't go!

Consideration the key

Cyclists and cars are like oil and water ("Cyclists find little safety under laws", April 15). The inherent difference in their speeds mean danger for the cyclists and frustration for the motorists. Especially on Sydney's narrow roads. Separation is the best solution but not always possible. Consideration from both groups is the only answer. And, after all, most cyclists are motorists too.

Alexander Haege, Tamarama

We don't need more education, ads or road signs. People know the rules and know cyclists are vulnerable to speeding cars and bad driving. We simply drive too fast and in vehicles that are unnecessarily large on suburban streets. We just need to chill, be courteous and considerate to all other road users and get off the phone, whether driving or crossing the road

What about welfare of the greyhounds?

Hundreds of greyhounds have been put down since the ban was overturned a year ago but thanks to an amazing group of animal lovers many discarded greyhounds have been given a second chance to live ("Greyhound racing still a 'cruel' sport", April 15). Thankfully there are good people in the society that really do care about the welfare of these beautiful animals.

Pasadena issue

What many supporters of the current Pasadena development fail to appreciate is that regardless of whether you support its upgrading and use or not, the issue is that it is illegal and will result in impacts on the local community due to intensification of use ("'Rogue development': plans to redevelop a Sydney landmark splits a community", April 15). Most who understand the intrinsic character and value of the Point do not want it turned into a giant carpark.Council would be down on us like a ton of bricks if as individuals we decided to develop or change use of our own properties without a valid approval, so why is it OK for a commercial operator to thumb his nose at due planning process?

Cathy Kubany, Church Point

First the "important" foreshore was sacrificed for a community car park and now the Pasadena is to be sacrificed to restore the foreshore to the community? The Pasadena had been trading as a road house since the 1950s, the transformation of the derelict eyesore is almost complete and it will function basically as a modern-day roadhouse. The council and local community groups still win as they have stopped the expansion of the Pasadena and we gain amenities that benefits the wider community.

Bias claim

In your article on the Gaza strip, you allow Farid Farid, whoever that is, a full-page attack on Israel ("Fenced territories in flames", April 19). There is no explanation as to who the writer is, for whom they work and who pays for the work. Worse still, there is no balance allowed to oppose this fake view.

This bias is then upstaged by your disgraceful cartoon that openly attacks Israel, once again. This cartoon is insulting and intended to deliberately distort the fact by equating the butcher of Syria who murders of his citizens by heavy bombardment and aerial attack, then kills more with chemical weapons, helped by Russia and Iran on the one hand, with Israel's defense of its citizens from the murderers in Gaza who are openly intending to destroy Israel.
